OUR PROCESS
CONCEPTION
Ours like any other creative process begins with conceptualisation and aid to the emotive storyline around which we weave the tapestry. This stage is a collaborative process between the lead designer and clients ensuring a piece specifically crafted for them, it also involves research, exploration and preparing a holistic base for our material experiments
EXPERIMENTATION
During this stage our concept takes physical form through a series of experimentations, from playing with textures to blending colours, from balancing the visual elements to balancing the spatial ones.
PINNING
Our piece reaches from the designers tables to the karigars adda, tought in place imprinted with indigo, threads woven through needles and dabka pieces cut with this the fragments of our story are waiting to be brought to life.
EMBROIDERY
Keeping the legacy of our crafts alive, our karigars skillfully weave your stories onto the adda, with each stitch hand embroidered meticulously over days
ORNAMENTING
This step helps ensure accuracy and precision during the embroidery process, as the pins serve as reference points for the placement of stitches.

OUR FOUNDER
In the heart of Lutyens Delhi, at 1 Aurangzeb Road, a unique venture started out as a commissioned project, with the aim of providing functional solutions with artistic mediums, to inculcate the history and stories from the streets of Lutyens Delhi to walls within the house. This grew into Cavallo India, which was brought to life at the dawn of the 21 st century by Devya Singh. an entrepreneur with a deep appreciation for India's artisanal heritage, and a will to embark on a journey to create a lifestyle brand that championed craftsmanship while transcending traditional conforms.
Starting her career with footwear design in 1996, she soon realised the innate need to showcase her cultural roots juxtaposed with the rapidly modernising world of the 90’s, this led her on the ever evolving journey of expressing herself through art that eventually morphed expression through tapestries. Her 2 decades of experience in the interior industry. working extensively with the finest craftsmen in a rich design environment paved the way for bringing the crafts of India into mainstream Design.
Today, after almost 20 years since inception she heads the company, being at the helm of its creative process, ensuring that Cavallo India not only preserves traditional techniques but also pushes the boundaries of Indian hand embroidered art in the landscape of today.
